Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s ‘people’s meeting’ at village Charik in Moga
Moga, July 25:
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today said with full confidence that the people of Punjab have made up their minds to re-elect the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the year 2027. He said that the overwhelming response to the people-friendly initiatives of the government shows the confidence won in the last four years.
During a ‘Lok Milni’ program at Moga’s village Charik, the Chief Minister said that revolutionary steps like free electricity for 90 per cent households, Rs 10 lakh ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana’, financial assistance for women, record expansion of canal irrigation, transparent government recruitment on merit and strengthening of government health care have brought about a major change at the ground level, which has eliminated the political presence of opposition parties in the state.
Sharing some glimpses of the Lok Milni, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann wrote on X: “Heartfelt thanks for the immense love and huge gathering during the Lok Milni program conducted at historic village Charik today. Handed over a grant of Rs. 51 lakhs for village development. Further strengthening the health infrastructure, dedicated 100 new Aam Aadmi clinics to the people today, taking the total number of clinics running in Punjab to 1,090.”
At the end of the post, it was written, “Our main priorities are to deliver 88 per cent canal water to farms, zero electricity bill to 90 per cent households and to give government jobs to the youth on the basis of pure merit. We are fully committed to the welfare of every section of the society and to make ‘Rangla Punjab’. Long live the revolution.”
Bhagwant Singh Maan said during the Lok Milni program, “These opposition parties are like a bridegroom without a bridegroom. Although they are fighting for power, they do not have a single leader. The Shiromani Akali Dal has already split into three-four factions, while the Congress leaders do not like to see each other’s faces. These power-hungry leaders want to grab power only to loot the state’s wealth, but the intelligent people of Punjab will never allow this.”
Taking a dig at the Akali Dal, he said, “Sukhbir Singh Badal is a convent school educated politician who doesn’t even know the basic geography of the state, yet he wants to gain political power here. Leave everything else, the former deputy chief minister of Punjab can’t even differentiate between the major crops of the state because he has little understanding of the basic issues of Punjab.”
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Akalis have done irreparable damage to the generations of Punjab by rooting out the drug business. “These leaders not only patronized drug peddlers but also reportedly used government vehicles to sell or distribute drugs. They have hurt the psyche of every common man by using religion for their personal interests, which is an unpardonable crime,” he said.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “They are allied with forces that are against the Sikh panth and Punjab. The Congress, BJP and Akali have united against me because they hate the welfare initiatives being run by my government.”
Referring to the changes brought by his government in the irrigation sector, the Chief Minister said that the AAP government has significantly increased the use of canal water across the state. “In the year 2022, the state was using only 22 per cent of its canal water, but today this figure has crossed 88 per cent. People in many parts of Punjab have seen canal water for the first time in 80 years. He said, “Earlier people had to depend on borewells for water, but now those days are gone. According to the report of the Union Ministry, due to the tireless efforts of the state government, the groundwater level of Punjab has risen by four meters.
He said, “The province is now using less ground water and more canal water. The day is not far when Punjab will touch the 100 percent figure. My government will not give Punjab’s water to Haryana or Rajasthan. Punjab was robbed a lot earlier, but now those days are over.”
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that every penny of the government treasury is being spent honestly for the welfare of the people. He said, “More than 90 percent of the houses in Punjab are getting free electricity. Today, farmers are also getting electricity during the day, which is an example. At a time when the central government is selling the country’s assets to its dear friends at a pittance, the Punjab government has created history by buying a private thermal plant.”
Targeting the Congress, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the party has neither any agenda for Punjab nor any program for the people. He said, “Congress party is on its last breath and will end very soon as it has no agenda for the people or the state. Its only aim is to come to power and loot the wealth of Punjab, but this dream will never be fulfilled. Congress is a house of ruins which will collapse due to its internal fighting. It is very unfortunate that the big leaders of Congress who came to unite these leaders who are fighting for power cannot even speak their names.” come.”
The Chief Minister said that after assuming office in the year 2022, the AAP government has ensured that nearly 90 per cent households in the state get free electricity, while for the first time in the history of the state, farmers are getting uninterrupted power supply during the day during the paddy season. He said, “For the first time in the history of Punjab, uninterrupted power supply to agricultural tubewells has been provided for more than eight hours during the paddy season, that too during the day. The Punjab government has laid 14,000 km of pipelines and ditches across the state to facilitate farmers in every nook and cranny of the state.”
Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “A total of 21,000 cusecs of water has been released through these pipelines and ditches to meet the irrigation needs of farmers. The water released by the Punjab government is equivalent to the water supplied by two canals in Bhakra. Farmers across the state are benefiting immensely from this initiative. Recharge points have also been constructed in canals and rivers to improve the groundwater level, bringing the water level from two Four meters has come up.”
The Chief Minister said that taxpayers’ money is being used honestly for the welfare of the people and is being returned to them in the form of development, good schools, hospitals and roads. “The AAP government has closed the toll plazas, saving the people of the state around Rs 70 lakh per day. We are making tireless efforts for the welfare of every section of the society and are leaving no stone unturned for this noble cause.”
Referring to the ‘Mawan Dhiyan Respect Yojana’, the Chief Minister said that this scheme shows the government’s commitment to respect mothers and daughters across Punjab. “Under the ‘Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Shrekh Yojana’, every woman above 18 years of age in Punjab is getting financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month, while SC women are getting Rs 1,500 per month. Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 is a huge amount for the common people, especially the poor. This financial assistance is a symbol of respect for our mothers and daughters and this scheme has brought their faces. A smile gives me so much comfort.”
Throwing light on the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana’, the Chief Minister said that the AAP government has launched the first such scheme in the country which provides cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh to every family in the state. He said, “Punjab is the first state in India to provide such comprehensive healthcare coverage to every family. This has significantly reduced the financial burden on people and ensured quality healthcare. This historic initiative aims to provide free treatment to every family in Punjab and people have availed cashless treatment worth more than Rs 650 crore under this scheme.”
The Chief Minister said that Punjab is progressing rapidly in all sectors as the government has taken historic initiatives in the fields of health, education, power and infrastructure. “The construction of more than 49,000 km of rural roads is progressing rapidly and will be completed soon,” he said.
The Chief Minister further said that the AAP government has closed 19 toll plazas across the state. He said, “The closure of these toll plazas is saving around Rs 64 lakh daily from the pocket of common people. Our government has fulfilled every promise made to the people of Punjab and Punjab has become the first state in the country to do so. The only agenda of my government is to ensure the progress of the state and the prosperity of its people.”
Speaking about the creation of employment opportunities, the Chief Minister said that the responsibility of any government is to empower the youth and create opportunities for them to make a good life. “Every file signed by me is meant to benefit the common man and the state. More than 68,000 government jobs have been given to the youth purely on the basis of merit without any corruption or recommendation. Every decision taken by the Punjab government has been taken with the aim of ensuring the progress of the state and the prosperity of its people.”
Referring to the implementation of the ‘Jagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Reverence (Amendment) Act-2026’, the Chief Minister said that he was grateful to the Akal Purakh that he had the privilege of bringing this historic law. He said, “Whenever incidents of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji took place, the hearts of millions of people were broken. God gave me the strength to bring this bill after detailed discussions with legal experts.”
The Chief Minister said, “Punjab government has carefully drafted this bill so that no future amendments or legal loopholes can undermine it. This law will deal sternly with anti-social elements involved in such activities in future and no one will dare to commit such heinous crime again. Earlier people used to escape punishment by claiming that they were unsound or mentally ill. However, if someone is truly mentally ill is unbalanced, so why does he target only Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji? Why does he not hit a train engine or touch live electric wires?”
The Chief Minister said that the opposition is opposing this anti-blasphemy law because they know that they will have to answer for the crimes committed in the past. He said, “The Akali met with the divisive forces who hatched blasphemy plots in the past. Now these leaders will have to face the consequences of their misdeeds, which is why these people are opposing the anti-blasphemy law. However, this cannot stop me from working for the welfare of the people, and I will continue to do everything possible in their interest.”
The Chief Minister said that there is a stark difference between his style of governance and previous governments, which remained out of reach of the common people. “Those before me never met the common people. They used to come out of their luxurious homes only after checking the temperature, while I am available to people round the clock,” he said.
In a scathing attack on the previous governments, the Chief Minister said that they amassed immense wealth by misusing their official positions. He said, “These leaders misused their official positions and built huge palaces illegally. The walls of these palaces were high and their gates were always closed to the common people. They stayed away from the people and eventually the people showed them the way out.”
At the end of his address, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the people of Punjab have repeatedly rejected those who exploit the state for their personal interests. He said, “People of Punjab have repeatedly shown the looters a way out. These leaders have fooled the people for a long time, but the intelligent people of the state will no longer fall for their misleading propaganda. These arrogant leaders always considered the people as a fixed vote bank and finally the people voted them out of power. Today these opportunistic leaders are shocked because the people are no longer responding to them. Their agenda. He has always been limited to the welfare of his family rather than the welfare of the people.”
